STORYBOARDING A SERVICE

Whereas products can be prototyped with machine tools or 3D printers, new services are prototyped using other methods. One simple approach is to create the kind of storyboard traditionally used by Hollywood movie makers and Pixar animators to map out the flow of a scene. You portray each step of service delivery and each element of the customer experience with a series of comic-book-like frames showing action and dialogue. Don’t worry about your drawing ability—stick figures are fine. The point is to think through the steps and start to make your idea or the experience tangible. Here are some hints for storyboarding your new concept:
