Jasper took the lead on assigning tasks and planning menus, with all the authority he could muster. The group split up after that. Porter went off with the kids to look for recipes online, Sage and Ash disappeared, while Gemini and Tauryn took the opportunity to grill Libra on what exactly she meant by ‘almost nothing happened’.

Fatigue and excitement vied for top spot in her body. In some ways, it was great having a full house to help with dinner and entertaining the kids. Part of her also wanted to tuck the kids into bed, then crawl into her own with Ash. She had no idea if he was going to stay over again, or if he should. The kids had known about him spending the night a while back, but if he stayed in her room, they might feel differently.

It was such a tricky issue, and she wasn’t prepared to be thinking about it. Just a couple days before, there were no prospects on her horizon, and now, this man, who she couldn’t imagine being interested in her, was in her bed. Just as she felt herself starting to tighten against the wall of uncertainties, he appeared.

He’d been in the girls’ room with Sage during her own grilling. A few options crossed her mind about what they might have been doing, but she didn’t have time to wonder before he stepped toward her. “Can I have a minute, Libra?”

Gemini and Tauryn stared at him as if he hadn’t just asked a very simple question. Libra had expected that they’d get up and give her some privacy, but they just sat and waited.

She stood, instead. He offered his hand to help her up and she took it. Their short walk toward the bedrooms, with his arm firmly around her waist, supporting her, must have been watched by every set of eyes in the house. She didn’t care.

He led her into her bedroom and gently closed the door. Within a second their mouths connected in a fiery kiss. The one she’d been thinking about all day.

He touched a series of small kisses around her face. “Mmmmm…” came his delighted moan. “Thank you for that.”

She tilted her chin to give him greater access for his trail of kisses. “I understand that what happened earlier was…”

“Frustrating.” His tongue ran along the side of her neck, leaving a hot trail of pleasure.

“I’m sorry you’re frustrated, but I’m glad we had a chance to talk about things.” Her body tingled with the feel of his lips pulling at the tender skin at the base of her neck. “And my balls are also blue, in case you’re wondering.”

She felt the jolt of his body and the temporary absence of his mouth as he chuckled. “Glad to hear I’m not the only one, sweetheart. But continuing what was interrupted is not why I brought you in here.”

She feigned disbelief. “It’s not?”

His expression turned serious. “Would you have wanted me to?”

Was there a way to say yes a million-fold? “Of course.
