CHAPTER 16
(1)
Elizabeth Logan sat on an armchair with her thighs squeezed so tightly together that her knees were hurting her. I will not give in again. I wonât. I wonât. She tried to concentrate on a game show on the television, but it was meaningless and drifted by her. She tried counting the flowers in the wallpaper pattern but this simple task was also beyond her, and Elizabeth found each time she tried to divert her mind from her problem, her hands would creep of their own accord towards her lap. In desperation she slapped at her legs with her hands hoping the pain would help, but it only fed the unrelenting itch beneath her skirt.
It was her own fault. She shouldnât have given in so easily to her dream lover last night. God had been watching and now he was paying her back for her lustful thoughts. Since she had woken this morning, Elizabeth had masturbated a total of seventeen times, an unthinkable state of affairs for a woman who only indulged in the practice perhaps once or twice a year. The moment she had opened her eyes this morning, the heat from last nightâs fantasy had swamped her and she had reached for the much abused pillow to relieve herself. The act of towelling herself dry had provoked another burst of libido and by the time she escaped from the bathroom she was so tired that she had gone back to bed for a lie down. There was to be no respite though and when the incinerating fervour burned her once more, she had ignored the pillow and for the first time in her life directly used her fingers.
The rest of the day followed the same pattern. It didnât matter what she was doing, when the attacks (as she thought of them now) occurred she would give in and wallow in the shameful practice of self abuse. It was as if she had become a warped version of King Midas whose touch turned everything to gold. Everything around Elizabeth made her shiver with desire. Ordinary household objects had become erotic sex toys, the Hoover, the washing machine, the electric can opener, and ...Elizabeth reddened when she thought of what she had done with the cucumbers when making sandwiches for the Ministerâs tea party. Her fuses had blown so hard she couldnât even remember if she had washed them properly afterwards.
The party at the meadow had been a nightmare. She had to leave twice on the pretext of going to the toilet in order to satisfy the unnatural urges that were running riot through her body. Then when sheâd
