The intimacy of watching someone put themselves together after they’ve fallen apart was peculiar.

I don’t think I’d ever really taken a moment to consider the weight of it before, let alone revel in it, but watching Sunny collect herself after unraveling on my cock really did something to me.

Her face was flushed, and the hair on the back of her head tangled from rubbing against the wall as I fucked her. She combed her fingers through it, but it only frizzed, and she finally gave up and put it into a ponytail.

I didn’t have to do more than shove my dick back in my pants, giving me ample time to study her.

The rise and fall of her chest hadn’t steadied, and I wondered if I affected her as much as she did me.

She had the choice. I’d given her the option to stop things. To tell me to piss off and walk away, but she hadn’t. She looked me right in the eye and gripped me in her hand, sheathing me for battle.

And believe me, fucking Sunny was a battle. I had little doubt that she could slaughter me if she wanted to. I was constantly on the defense to protect myself.

I didn’t know what to do with it. Planning with this woman was not my strong suit, as evidenced by the fact that I’d come into the studio.

Watching her adjust her clothing and prepare herself to enter the world without an “I’ve just been fucked” look, I didn’t regret my impulsivity. Only that I’d waited so long to indulge in it.

“So, um.” She bit her lip, tucking her tank top into her shorts. “What now?”

“You mentioned something about Jerusalem cylinders.”

Sunny snorted, clasping her hand over her mouth to stifle the sound. At least she understood my humor, what little of it existed.

She lowered her hand, sliding her feet into her flip-flops one at a time. I don’t know why the motion felt tender, but it softened my chest.

“What do you eat for lunch?” she asked.

It was a weird question, but I liked that I couldn’t predict what she would say. Ever.

“Not kittens, right?”

I gave a soft chuckle, thrusting my hands into my pockets. Being in this bright studio. Giving her control of what happened. Having been inside her. My name from her mouth as she tumbled over the edge of her climax, mine following a few thrusts after. All of that seemed vulnerable for reasons I didn’t understand yet.

The side of my mouth quirked upward. “No. No kittens. I don’t always take the time for lunch, but I go out around here when I do.”

The need to answer correctly concerned me, so I shook the thought and kept it vague.

“Favorite place?” she asked.

“There’s a great pho place on Fourth. Near the club. I go there a lot.”

I scratched the back of my head, failing to tell her that Phuong, the owner, knew me by name at that point.

“Good,” she said. “Take me there.”

“Now?”

Sunny brushed past me, not looking to see if I followed.
