GIANNA

My phone hasn’t rung since I took the guns. I don’t know why, but when I think about it, I worry, so I choose to ignore it. Instead, I focus on the task that lies before me. Regardless of how things went with Amari last night, this morning I have to have my mind set on business if I want all of this to work out the way I envisioned it. And I have envisioned it. I’m not simply flying by the seat of my pants here. There is a plan, and the meeting I’m about to have is simply Step Two.

When you know the life the way I was raised to know it, certain things become simple to you. Common knowledge, if you will. One of these commonly known things is that buyers are usually nothing more than that. Buyers don’t necessarily care who sells them what they need, as long as their demand is met. So, when one supplier is no longer available, the buyer simply goes to another supplier to get what they need. It’s a simple as that. If you want to steal the buyer, eliminate the supplier. Luciano supplies Victor with Russian AK-47s, and Victor gets to continue being the boss of his streets on Long Island. It’s not my business what the buyer does with his merchandise, just as long as he purchases it. Luckily for me, I happen to know that Luciano is no longer capable of supplying Victor with what he needs, so I put in a phone call to Mr. Reyes myself, and set up a meeting for us this morning, because I know with one sale to Victor, I can unload three quarters of the AKs I stole from Luciano and make myself a nice little five-digit payday, while also acquiring a new customer for the long haul. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about it, because all Victor would have to do is say something to Luciano about me selling him the guns, and my father would know it was me who hit his truck and took his merchandise.

I don’t know what my father would do if he found out, and I’m not really interested in learning that the hard way, so I asked Victor to keep this meeting discreet, and gave him the impression that my father wanted it that way. Out of loyalty to my father, Victor agreed. He doesn’t know Luciano’s guys got jacked, and as long as he doesn’t say anything to anyone about me being the
