Getting Hands-on:
Arrange your series sentences in a top-down order of importance; then take the top four sentences and combine their elements to reduce the theme to two sentences and finally to a single-sentence description of what your manuscript is about—your theme.
Place your theme in the bull’s-eye of a series target (either
hand-drawn or using a software program such as Scapple), and place all of your series closer to or farther from the theme, based
on their relevance. If you are having trouble getting a series onto the target at all, you might be looking at an aspect of your narrative that you can just as well do without.
