“Mama, can I go see grandma this weekend?”

“Yes, of course,” Grace agreed. Her daughter seemed to understand how pressing it was for her to have some alone time too.

This weekend, Grace didn’t quite need alone time. But she needed time to think and plan what she was going to say to Ash. She was sure that he hadn’t taken her radio silence lightly. He had professed his feelings to her honestly and passionately. From his perspective, it had looked like Grace had ghosted for no reason.

Once she was home with her daughter, Grace spent the evening playing with her and helping her get her hair detangled and combed into two bouncy afro puffs. Grace loved everything about being a mother but she couldn’t help but wistfully reminisce about the days when Mariah was a beautiful bouncing baby in her arms. She didn’t think she’d ever get to experience that joy again, so she resolved to appreciate every single moment of Mariah’s childhood even more.
