Connie Mack (seated, center) returned to La Palma Park in Anaheim, where he had his Philadelphia Athletics in training more than 10 years earlier. With him are first baseman Chuck Stevens (left) and Mack’s cousin Ralph Gutgsell (right); Bob Clements of the Hollywood Stars is sitting behind Mack. This image is dated March 9, 1954.

This is a lobby card from the 1950 The Jackie Robinson Story, filmed at La Palma Park and starring Jackie Robinson as himself.

The Anaheim Valencias, named for the sweet local oranges, formed in 1947 and played in the Sunset League, a Class-C team affiliated with the Sacramento club in the old PCL. The Sunset League, comprised of teams from Anaheim, Riverside, Ontario, El Centro, Las Vegas, and Reno, operated from 1947 through 1950. The Valencias won the league championship in 1947 and played at La Palma Park.
