Theorists and critics of utopia

With the aftermath of the Second World War, with the atrocities committed through Nazi millennialism and with the cold war raging against the communist millennial regimes in China, the Soviet Union and elsewhere, an intellectual current developed within Western Europe and North America that not just actively questioned the utility of utopian world building as a political project but also started to see it as part of an ideological danger that needs active combating. That utopian and millennial imaginaries should become to be seen as dangers to be overcome is clearly understandable in the light of the atrocities the war and the ideological rivalry with communism.
