30.4 Work-Up

The diagnosis of BCNS is typically based on the constellation of clinical manifestations [25]. Depending on the age of the patient, the following criteria can be used to establish the diagnosis:Physical examination for facial dysmorphism [26].

X-rays to detect skeletal abnormalities [7].

Ophthalmologic evaluation [3].

Measurement of head circumference to evaluate for macrocephaly [25].

Echocardiography to evaluate for the presence of a cardiac fibroma [25].

Brain MRI for the detection of a medulloblastoma [25].
