Daphne
I thanked the man who was kind enough to help me load my items into the back of the car. I had gone to the restaurant supply store to get some things for my catering business, such as containers, utensils and other things I knew that I needed. I had already gotten some accounting software, the same kind that Mindy used for her cake business and she was going to show me how to use it.
I was more than ready to have this baby so that I could get started with my business and take more new clients. I was planning on keeping the baby with me while I worked not wanting to trust anyone else to do the job. I was living proof that people did horrible things to children, and I’d be damned if I let anything happen to my child.
I got into my car and slowly backed out of the spot and headed towards the parking lot’s exit. I had just gotten on the road, humming along with the radio, when a car pulled up behind me damn-near into my rear bumper.
“Go around, asshole!” I said, out loud as I kept my eyes on this idiot in my rear-view mirror.
But he stayed on me, and started flashing his high-beams and honking his horn.
Did I forget something on the roof of the car?
I didn’t know what he wanted, but I changed lanes so that he could go around, letting out a heavy sigh as he did the same thing.
“Jesus....” I grumbled, as I sped up to get away from him.
That’s when the car switched lanes, sped ahead of me and then cut me off, making me slam on the brakes with a loud squeal as my own car shimmied.
I gasped as the driver got out.
It was Evan.
He was waving a piece of paper, shouting at me as he moved closer to my car. He banged his fist on my hood as I backed the car away from him.
He saw this and ran to pull at my driver’s-side door, trying to open it. I was thankful that my new car featured doors that automatically locked once the car was put into drive.
“You think a fucking piece of paper is going to keep me away from you? Huh?” he snarled at me through the glass, as I ignored him and started honking my horn.
I stupidly hoped that someone would hear it and come to my aid. But we were out on a somewhat quiet road, and there were no other cars around.
“You’re out of your mind on this one, Daphne. You have fucking lost your mind! Open this fucking door!!....” He slammed his open palm against the glass, as I backed the car away again, this time at high speed, watching as he fell from my sudden movement.
“Daphne! I know where you live, bitch! Bitch!!” he bellowed, as I put the car in drive and floored it again as I went around him. I could see him staring after me as I raced away.
