I feel the need to dedicate a section to early rising as it is a common problem that can be exhausting for parents and one that can be difficult to resolve.
I would suggest that you treat any time before 6 a.m. as night-time, depending on what time your baby goes to sleep at the start of the night. However, if your baby is regularly waking at 5 a.m. and not settling back to sleep you need to try to establish the reason for this.
