Dear Willow,

I think I should stop writing to you. It’s not right to try to fall for her and still want you. Some day I’ll look back and see how far we’ve come and the idea of you will hurt less. That feels ridiculous to say since it’s already been six years, but I’m still owned by the pain of losing you and I’m not certain I’ll ever be able to make a comeback.

The future shouldn’t scare me, but it does. I hate thinking of my life without you in it and I suppose that’s why I’ve been writing these emails. They keep a piece of you here with me. They keep us alive. I don’t think the day exists when I’ll ever stop missing my best friend and wishing she’d just come home.

It hurts her to know I still hurt for you, Will. I fear that I’m a terrible man because I love you. And I’m afraid I don’t know how to stop.

Please come home and give me a reason not to try.
