Again, we would need to create one variable for each item in our data set to record whether it has been selected or not. Reading the question above, we should note that it implies that a screening process had taken place. There is an implicit assumption that the respondent goes away on vacation, as there is no option to say that they do not. It may be that a screening question was asked beforehand or that we know from the context that they do – if, for example, the question was asked as part of a survey by a travel company the respondent had recently completed a trip with. We will discuss the implications of ensuring that the answer options are comprehensive further below.
