Chapter Ten
Nadya
Holy Mother of God! Was I really going to do this? Hell yes!
How could I not? I wanted this, just one night, one time in his arms. For a moment in time to be a part of this man who’s meant so much to me over the last few years. More than a pen pal, a friend, I fell in love with him. I wasn’t sure exactly when it happened, I guess just over a period of time. Love came slowly and softly for us. Unlike whatever the hell was happening here. Nothing slow or soft about the pleasure-filled fire burning my blood, with only one remedy for relief. Harper buried deep inside of me.
I regretted so many things about us, yet really there was only one thing I’d change, one thing to make a happily ever after ending. But those things were for books and movies. Those things didn’t happen in real life, so I’d take what I could get.
I’d paid attention to his eyes when I told him I couldn’t have children—pity. I didn’t want his pity. I knew this man, knew his hopes, his dreams and children played a big part of that. His own. I wouldn’t, couldn’t deny him that opportunity, but having him like this just once, seemed to me the right thing for both of us. When he asked me to come home with him there was only one answer. He’d get what he wanted, a one night stand with a stranger. I’d get what I need, one night in the arms of the man I love.
The room was dark, but the Venetian blinds were slanted open letting in just enough light to see my shadowy surroundings. Yet at that moment, the décor of his room was the last thing I was interested in. I still couldn’t believe that I was here, with him. After so much time, at last we were together. Even if he didn’t know it. Harper. My best friend. The man that I love.
Kneeling at my feet, he slowly removed my shoes, pausing to massage my feet. I smiled. The shoes were gorgeous but they were also four inches of torture. At five ten, I was tall for a woman but I wasn’t one of those women who shied away from her height. I frigging owned it. Even with the additional inches, Harper still towered over me. I loved that.
“Pretty feet,” he said, kissing the tops then guiding his hands up my calves, to my thighs and hips.
Not once breaking eye contact, he leaned forward. It was almost as if we were dancing again. I half expected him to pick me up and toss me under him. Instead, he pressed his lips all too briefly against mine, and I felt his hands moving my blouse aside as his long fingers brushed against my stomach causing me to clench. He unbuttoned my slacks. I lifted my hips and he pulled them off me, down past my knees, removing them one leg at a time.
