Two regions are selected for waveform analysis—blue waveform is from anteroseptal and orange is from inferolateral. This is systolic freeze-frame. The onset of the peak systolic strain and its value from circumferential analysis (lower waveforms) are identical, indicating normal cardiac conduction and function. Radial strain (upper waveforms) has an earlier onset of systole and lower value in the anteroseptal segment because radial strain is analysed using the entire cardiac wall (thickening of the wall’s segment), which in this case includes right and left ventricular fibres of the interventricular septum. Note that radial strain is positive (systolic thickening of the wall means elongation in radial direction), while circumferential strain in the basal segment is negative as it is shortening during systole
