TORY (Going to the giving up area): I think you just have to be born different.

(Pete and Tom look at each other and awkwardly get into “Jesus/God” positions, standing next to each other facing the audience. Pete is Jesus and Tom is God.

All of the following lines are directed to the audience until Tom’s first sudden howl of pain.)

PETE: Fear not, for I will walk upon the land.

TOM: I will walk upon the land, in the hills and the valley below.

PETE: I will walk upon the land and shout my name.

TOM: I will shout my name in the desert.

PETE: Over the plains and in the valley, you will hear my name echoing.

TOM: You will hear my name echoing into the hills.

PETE: You will hear my name echoing and fall down.

TOM: You will fall down groveling upon the earth.

PETE: You will weep and curse my name.

TOM: You will curse my name and I will smite you down.

PETE: I will swing my balls like a Santa Claus sack around my head.

TOM: The sons of my sons will run in circles around me, each holding one of my ball sacs.

PETE: The sons of my sons will run around and around me until I am trapped in a prison of my own balls and flesh.

TOM: I will shout at them as they run away with my balls in their hands.

PETE: I will comfort you in your pain.

TOM: Deliver your heart unto my hand.

PETE: My shepherd will guide you in the field.

TOM: There will be no more cause for sorrow.

PETE: You will sleep with the lambs upon the earth.

TOM: Amen.

(Pause.

The chanting “hai” and “fai” are pronounced like the word “hi.”)
