Garrett was surprised when he reached his yard to see Miley climbing out Declan’s window. She stared up at Declan as she backed away.

That was new. Looked like whatever was going on was more than friends, though he knew Declan would never.

Garrett wanted to shout for her to watch out as she backed right into his mother’s metal bird bath, but he was too late. The bowl rocked slightly before crashing to the ground.

Seconds later the porch light flickered on.

“What’s going on out here?” His dad’s voice rumbled through the air.

Miley froze as Declan appeared behind his dad.

Garrett couldn’t let Miley get in trouble. As much as Declan irritated him, he was sure whatever was going on in his room was innocent.

“Dad,” Garrett replied before Miley was seen.

She whipped her head around and locked her wide-eyes with Garrett’s. “Go.” He whispered.

Miley hesitated for a split second before sprinting around the house.

“Garrett, what on Earth are you doing out here?” Randy barked, standing in the doorway in his white tee shirt and stripped pajama pants.

“Guess I been caught.” He casually shrugged.

“Get your butt in here now!” Randy’s voice boomed. Garrett hoped he didn’t wake the neighbors as he made his way toward the house. “I’m too tired for this tonight,” Randy pinched the bridge of his nose. “You’re grounded for life.”

“What’s going on out here?” Robin walked into the foyer, wiping the sleep from her eyes.

“I caught Garrett outside just now.” Randy scowled at him.

Garrett knew this was nothing compared to what it would be like when they found out about the pregnancy.

“What?” Robin looked at Garrett in shock. “Garrett Mathew!” She gasped.

“Robin.” Randy cut her off as he waved a hand in front of him. “I’ve got it.” He turned back to Garrett. “You get your butt to bed. I’ll deal with this tomorrow.”

“Yes sir.” Garrett could barely get the words out.

He trudged to his bedroom. How would he tell them about the baby if Bree didn’t abort? He felt a twinge of guilt, because for a second he hoped she would so he wouldn’t have to tell them.
