No Way #2
‘80s Soundtrack for No Way 2 Beat:
“Faith” by George Michael
“Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins
FOR THE NEXT 25% or so of the book, you the author are going to attack the argument voiced against transformation in the No Way Beat from the last phase. In this beat, however, you should restate the argument. This means you are going to make sure the characters are still positive that they are right about love and their reasons for not falling into it.
If you only had a No Way Beat for one character, this is the place for the other to express disdain for opening their heart. Feel free to employ more bits of backstory. This beat is about your characters gathering their ammo and girding their loins as they are now stuck with the other character and want to avoid temptation, but don’t forget to tempt them.
If you had No Way Beats for both of them in the first phase, just restate them. I’m not suggesting that you rehash word-for-word. But a subtle nod to the reason they are unable to love or be loved with perhaps another hint of why is good here.
