Typically if you haven’t had a bite within a half an hour or so, especially if you have the small rod out, you are in the wrong spot. Don’t waste the day on a spot you think should be great but isn’t. Move to a new spot. If you run out of ideas and are frustrated, go back to plan A! I guarantee if you can find a few charter boats dog piled up somewhere on the horizon, there are fish there. Go there! There is less shame in joining the dog pile than going home and telling your wife you just plain suck and she will be a lot more apt to let you go fishing more often if you are bringing home dinner even if you had to rob it out from under a charter boats keel!
