These are good questions to ask and answer. Self-reflection and improvement are always a part of a strong development plan. Speaking in English across different language bases can be discomforting for both native and non-native speakers. These are appropriate questions to ask after any given business communication. They help us to self-reflect and self-correct. Alejandra needed to change her mind-set from an inward to an outward perspective. Further, she needed to do this in her own unique voice. She did not need to magically become an extrovert or change her core style. We guided her to the work of Susan Cain and to her landmark book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.2
