Data Collection

The meetings were audio and/or video recorded depending on the teams’ preference. This method enabled the collection of ‘naturally occurring’ talk (Potter & Hepburn, 2005). Recording equipment was given to a designated member of the team prior to the meeting, who was responsible for setting up the equipment and recording the data.

Three half-day meetings were recorded from the two multidisciplinary teams (two meetings from Team A and one from Team B). This captured the discussions of 16 children across 8 hours 24 minutes of data (6 children and 4 hours 46 minutes hours from Team A; 10 children and 3 hours and 39 minutes from Team B).
