2.6 White Hair

Typically, when blonds and redheads age into white hair, it will have a warm yellowish undertone. Brunets tend to age into white hair with a cool silvery undertone. The cool undertone is considered more attractive, and the warm yellowish tone can look dingy. You may have heard of the term "blue-haired old lady." The faint blue tinge to white hair can occur when women get a blue rinse to cover the yellowish gray cast to their hair.

BONE white hair is off-white with a warm, yellowish undertone similar to ivory and parchment.

CHALK white hair is stark white with perhaps a cool gray undertone.

FROST white, hoarfrost white, and hoary hair (all are clichés) are a bright, cool white, which may have glittery highlights of silver that resemble ice crystals.

PLATINUM hair is a bright, metallic silvery-white like the precious metal. It has a secondary connotation of glamor and wealth.

SNOW white or snowy hair (cliché) is a bright, cool white.
