Types Of Cherries

There are over a 1000 different types of cherries.

Some of the varieties are more familiar than others. Most people have heard of Black, Bing and Rainier cherries.

There are 2 categories of cherries, namely sweet and tart or sour cherries.

Sour or tart cherries are best for baking, as most people are not fond of eating them fresh.

Here is a list of a few of the cherry varieties:

Bing – very large, firm, sweet and deep mahogany red

Black – black and sweet (many varieties of black cherries)
