Chapter Twenty-two

Maeya felt fine at the end of the hour, so she put her suit back on and entered the airlock. “I’m ready for the next one,” she announced. Get a move on. We’re using precious oxygen.”

Tanner came next, then Skyler. The two of them helped each other remove their suits while Maeya went back out and sprayed Guyer. She pushed him into the airlock, waited while it cycled, then she followed. Tanner and Skyler helped them with their suits. The process was laborious and time-consuming, but in the end they were all as decontaminated as they could make themselves.

“Good job, Maeya,” Tanner told her as he helped her remove her gloves.

She grinned, but it was a brief grin. “You’d better check in with the tug if you haven’t already. I know of two women over there who are mighty anxious to hear from you. I’ll see what I can do about evacuating some of this smell from the ship.”
