As a white student, Peterson got a sense of the range of community views about climate change from the diversity of the people participating in the march, as did Ash Dawson, one of our minority students, who commented, “That is something that I remember being overwhelmed with at the march and thinking about where my place is and if I have a place in these communities, and if I’m supposed to have a place.” She recalled the experience as “cinematic” and considered how she would make “a specific place for myself within the issue” of climate change as she reflected on it.[15] Other students recalled the rich and resonant experiences of planting trees with their children, attending festivals and farmers’ markets, and seeing the concepts of the course materialize into activism and daily practices. Moreover, they enjoyed the poster session when everyone shared their experiences at events with each other:

The community project was really awesome. Students had a lot of fun. The presentations were really interesting. I think the presentations of the community projects were the most fun because you learned so much.[16]
