Experiencing Similarities
We have always defined the word âdiversityâ as including both differences and similarities. Based on science, research, and observation, we are convinced that any group or pair of humans have more in common than not. The differences are often more obvious and certainly more talked about than the similarities.
Part of the exciting possibilities that arise from effective diversity-related training based on principles of adult learning is discovering how similar we all are. We, of course, could teach people the science and the logic of that reality; however, the alternative and more effective method is to let them discover and experience the similarities themselves.
