Feedback focuses on the behavior, skill or the situation – not the person

I found how you said it sounded a little critical.

NOT You sounded critical.

Feedback is specific

I think the last 5 slides of the presentation need more detail.

NOT I want you to change the presentation.

Feedback is timely

When you went through the report in the meeting this morning I felt you seemed a little negative.

NOT When you went through the report last week I felt you seemed a little negative.
