2. Communication Model

The communication model is a basic mock-up of how communication takes place between individuals, shown in figure 3-9 below:

The key components of the model are:

Sender and receiver

Medium: method utilized to pass on the message

Noise: any sort of interference that could affect transmitting and understanding a message. Such as, language, distance, noisy surroundings, lack of information, lack of education, etc. These are also called communication blockers

Encode: is to convert information and data into a message that is understood by others

Decode: is to convert the message back into meaningful information or data

Message and feedback: a feedback message is sent back to the sender to confirm it was interpreted correctly
