While Pru and Abigail went off with Mr. Granger to buy the rest of the supplies, Lucky and Vida got the kitchen ready to go. They wiped down all the countertops and brought out every pie tin, cookie sheet, and muffin mold from the cupboards. They laid out all of Abigail’s cookbooks and made sure that there were enough aprons for everyone. Vida was so quick at everything, they finished their chore in twenty minutes flat. Lucky couldn’t help feeling that her plan was already taking shape, just as she’d imagined it would.

“Let’s take Cinnamon out for a ride around the stable while we wait for them to get back,” suggested Lucky. She could tell Vida was itching to get some horse time in.

“It’s as if you read my mind!” Vida’s green eyes were bright with excitement.
