From his spot on the bed, Tamil watched Risk get ready to go out. He could feel Risk’s hunger. Risk needed to hunt. To feed. It hurt and confused Tamil. He didn’t understand why it bothered him. It was a ridiculous way to feel. His unrealistic anger was the same as if Risk got mad for Tamil eating dinner. Even as fucked in the head as Tamil was, he understood that was nonsense. Still, the pressure sitting on his chest wouldn’t abate.
Risk froze as he pulled a T-shirt over his head. His gaze swung Tamil’s way. “Stop.”
Tamil automatically dropped his gaze to his lap. “I’m sorry.”
Risk closed the distance between them and sat on the bed next to Tamil’s thigh. He gently touched Tamil’s chin and urged him to meet Risk’s gaze. “I meant stop being mad at me. Your anger is clawing at my brain.”
A lump rose in Tamil’s throat. He didn’t want to be this way. “Ignore me. I’m being stupid.”
“Your feelings are never stupid. Maybe you should try talking to me instead. You never know. I might understand.”
A loud huff escaped Tamil before he could stop it. “I don’t even understand myself.” He hated pouting like a child. His emotions were all over the board. Even though he’d given up all pretense of sneaking into Risk’s room and simply went to bed with him each night, Risk didn’t belong to him. They weren’t lovers. He couldn’t tell the man his fangs belonged to him. Tamil’s insides froze at the thought. Did he really feel that way? Fuck. Yes, he did. Tamil swiped his palms down his thighs. He was such an idiot. Risk still stared at him—expectant. “Um.” He cleared his throat. “It’s... I just... ugh. I’m being ridiculous and even I know it, but I don’t really want you to bite anyone else.” He sneaked a peek at Risk as he made the claim. To his surprise, Risk didn’t laugh.
He rubbed Tamil’s thigh, as if trying to comfort him. “If I don’t feed, I’ll die.”
“I know,” Tamil said with a sharp nod. “That’s why you need to go and not worry about me. I can feel your hunger. It’s an ache in my chest.”
Risk didn’t move. Instead, he continued trying to ease Tamil. “And what happens when I get back? You won’t feel better. I don’t want you to be upset with me.”
This was hell. He knew Risk was right. All the pep talks in the world weren’t stopping him from feeling cheated. It didn’t matter it was ridiculous. Risk’s fears were legitimate. He wasn’t sure he wouldn’t break down once it was done. Tamil hated himself more than usual in that moment. Risk was so good to him all the time. All Tamil did was weigh him down with neediness.
“I’ll go to my room,” Tamil heard himself say as if the offer came from someone else. He squared his shoulders. Tonight, he wouldn’t be weak. “That way, I won’t know. I’ll just see you tomorrow, and you’ll be fed.
