2. Omniscient

The opposite of First Person, from an intimacy standpoint, is the Omniscient POV. Here you can go into any head, float around from a large scale description down to deep focus on any one character. This gives you great perspective, but at an intimacy cost. While introducing information is one of the benefits of omniscient, lack of focus is a possible drawback.

For example:

Henry thought Rachel looked ravishing in her evening gown. He wanted nothing more than to wrap her in his arms and dance with her all night.

Rachel saw that look in Henry’s eyes and shuddered. How could she tell him that she had decided to marry Oswald?
