Ovilus: a handheld device created by Bill Chappell of Digital Dowsing for direct spirit communication. The Ovilus contains an internal preset library of words heard audibly when “selected” by the spirit during use. The user asks a question of the spirit, which manipulates the device to “answer.”
A couple years after this incident, during the filming of one of the Ghost Adventures episodes, I had another encounter with something very dark. Before the guys began their investigation, I asked them not to provoke any of the spirits here. It’s dangerous for them and for the rest of us who are here every day and have to deal with pissed-off ghosts after the cameras are gone. The aftermath is awful.
Well, of course, Zak Bagans didn’t listen. He was downstairs doing his usual thing, yelling and taunting the spirits. Provoking, exactly what I asked him not to do. I was pissed off!
When Zak came upstairs, he and I got into it pretty bad. It took a couple guys to keep us apart. We almost got into a physical fight. I was angry, really angry, but it was more than that. I wanted to attack him, really hurt him, kill him. I mean, it was crazy!
Bishop James Long—archbishop of the U.S. Old Roman Catholic Church and experienced exorcist—had to take me outside and try to calm me down. I was out of control. He started speaking in tongues or something; I had no idea what the hell he was saying. He laid his hands on me, blessed me, and put some sort of medal on me, some sort of charm.
The bishop said I was borderline possessed, and I believe I was. Something took me over, made me act in a way I wouldn’t normally act. Yes, I was pissed, but I usually don’t try to kill people I’m upset with. This was something out of my control.
I believe I know who did this. I won’t say his name because I don’t want to give him the acknowledgment. It gives him power, and he doesn’t need any more. He is the supreme deceiver, known by many names. There have been so many ghost hunters and paranormal teams coming in here over the years; some do the stupidest shit. They pour blood down the well and try to summon something dark—it’s just ridiculous, dangerous crap. We’ve tried to put a stop to it. Wanda Kay doesn’t let people provoke in the club; it just stirs up trouble. I know what evil force is here. It’s attracted to the activity, and now I am extremely careful not to let it take me over again.
This ain’t no playground; this is serious stuff. You’d better be prepared if you come looking for ghosts at Bobby Mackey’s. You just might find them.
