IT’S COMPLICATED: Femoral acetabular impingement syndrome

Femoral acetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) can arise when we constantly compress the neck of the femur against the labrum of the acetabulum. FAIS most commonly occurs in the superior anterior portion of the labrum.100 Pure flexion alone rarely causes impingement to this area, but when flexion is accompanied by internal rotation of the femur, then impingement is more likely here.
