Pigeon

Pigeon opens up the hips to make you more receptive. Since you are using your legs to get out there and explore the world, you must take the time to open the hips so that they can become more pliable and you are more available to receive.

Begin in Downward Facing Dog. Raise your right leg up behind you and swing the leg, stepping forward to the midpoint of your hands. Allow your right knee to open out to the right, angling your knee at two o’clock. Your left leg should be extended behind you, internally rotated so that your hips are squared and your knee is facing the floor. If you do not feel the stretch on the outer right glute, you can slide the foot up a little higher. Stay here, or deepen the stretch by placing the forearms on the floor, or extending completely forward and resting your forehead on the ground.
