Stand in Mountain Pose facing the back of your chair, with your feet about 6 inches apart and your toes turned slightly inward.
Rest your fingertips lightly on the chair back.
Keep your spine upright and your chest lifted as you bend your knees as far as you can without bending your torso forward.
Glance down to make sure that your knees bend right in line with your toes.
Do not permit your knees to splay out to the sides or fall in toward one another. It is important that your knees bend in the direction your toes are pointing. If your knees wonât stay in line with your toes and the same distance apart as your feet, STOP Bring your feet together with your big toes touching and your heels slightly separated. Perform the pose with your feet together and your knees together to eliminate strain on your knees. Done correcdy this posture strengthens the muscles around your knees; done incorrectly, the muscles around your knees are subject to strain.
