Chapter 9
Harley
âWe need to talk.â Those words, coming from his mouth, were an instant trigger that put my back up. The blessed sleep that Iâd been on the brink of finding vanished into thin air as my temper began to flare.
The big shit had a lot of nerve falling back on that line after I let him into my house, and worse, my body. I should have known better after the way he treated me before, but nope. Not me. I just couldnât help myself when it came to him.
All it took was the feel of his body pressed up against mine, the signature smell of motor oil, pine, and a hint of smoke that was all him, and I was putty in his hands.
Stupid!
A thousand thoughts flew through my mind, landing on one.
I was not doing this again.
Especially since he was the one who chased after me.
With my temper on the rise, I shot him a dirty look, and I opened my mouth to let him have it.
But before I could tell him to get the hell out of my bed and kick rocks, he clamped his hand over my mouth and smiled.

When he didnât continue, I pulled his hand away from my mouth. âYou?â My brows furrowed. âYou were freaking out about me?â I scanned his face, looking for anything that might help me understand more, but Wrath had one hell of a poker face. I shook my head, unable to make sense of it. Wrath was the clubâs sergeant of arms for crying out loud. There was nothing that could shake any of the Saints.
âYouâre going to have to give me something here.â
âBaby, Iâm fucking terrified of this thing happening between us. The one and only time I opened myself up to a woman, she almost destroyed me.â Pain flashed behind his eyes, and I felt like a bitch.
In the last few months, Iâd heard bits and pieces about the infamous ex who cheated on him.
According to the girls, he gave the woman everything, and she paid him back by stomping on his heart.
Fortunately, I never had the displeasure of meeting the woman, but from what I knew of Wrath, she was a fool to step out on him. When I told G he was one of the best men Iâve ever met, I meant it. He was the first to step up for me when things went down with Gâs ex and our apartment was no longer safe. He generously offered me a
