It may sound like getting on purpose can be a bit of a magic pill for life, but here’s what doesn’t happen when you get on purpose: a rainbow doesn’t appear each morning, songbirds don’t accompany you on the way to your computer every day, and your life doesn’t all of a sudden get easy forever and always.

Here’s a reality check: even if the flowers are blooming and your butterflies are all in a row, you’ll still have some problems when you’re on purpose. It’s just that your problems change. Rather than agonizing about what to do with your life or worrying about the details of your to-do list, you’ll likely have the desire to take action and bring that sense of purpose you feel inside you to life.

So when your e-mail account freezes, you forget to back up your files, or you lose the most profound newsletter you’ve ever written, don’t make up stories about it. Don’t tell yourself that something’s all wrong with your business or your purpose. If you end up with an angry client, please don’t mistake it for a sign that you’re not supposed to be an entrepreneur.

It’s common to live with the misconception that once we align with the business of our dreams, it’s all a joyride from there. Not true. And, dear sister, I know you have the capacity and inner strength to walk through the storms when they come.
