The fog had lifted.

Thor turned in bed and put a hand on Emma’s hip beneath the duvet. He could see for himself out his window.

Today was the day.

He’d already planned out his moment of triumph in detail with Jocko. They’d line up in front of the castle, while keeping Emma and Rose safely back at the village with two good men. With the rocket launchers, Thor wouldn’t need more than twenty men including himself. Just enough to provide the required show of force.

He swung his legs out of bed and rubbed the sleep from his face.

He could only imagine how the castle would respond. Either they’d be cocky enough to think they were safe inside—which would bring a different kind of amusement when Thor created his own personal entrance right through the middle of their drawbridge.

Or they’d be cowering in fear, wetting themselves at the sight of Thor and his gang.

Either way worked.

Emma groaned and turned away, still half asleep. He would let her have a lie-in. God knows she’d earned it. He knew this whole disaster with Rose was emotionally wearing on her. It would be best to get his part done with as soon as possible for Emma’s sake.

He stood and pulled on his trousers, his mood rising with every moment that took him to the door. Soon, he’d be out of the village and on the way to the castle on the bluff by the sea.

There he would say the words he’d rehearsed for three long torturous days.

There he would demand they give up the bastard who’d befouled his precious Rose.

And no matter how they responded, there he would systematically destroy the castle and every single person in it.
