Snowbanks hang out along the road to Nason Ridge as late as mid-July.

Beyond the trailhead parking area, the road makes a sweeping switchback in open alpine slopes where you can look down the valley and up the road for 1.0 mile to the Nason Ridge. This section of the road often holds snow until late spring, and climbs steeply to the notch in Nason Ridge, where there’s a wide place to park and turn around, above a tiny ridgetop snowmelt pond.
