Talking Point 1: Unity Makes Us Safe, Strong, and Able

Jesus knows that unity is our greatest tool, weapon, or asset both for meeting the opportunities for sharing the gospel and for facing the struggles thrown at us by the adversary. Why did the adversary take Jesus into the wilderness for the temptations? They had been around each other many times, as hinted at through Scripture; but this was something different. Read the scriptures regarding the temptation of Jesus. The adversary tempted Jesus, we are told, with basic necessities; power and ambition; and personal trust and safety—a person’s identity. And these are the same ways the adversary tempts us as well. We are safer and stronger against the struggles of the world, Jesus says, when we are unified—not just in spiritual places but also in the practical places, like marriages, families, communities, and so on. We are safer when we are unified in our faith in God and in our support of one another.
