Unfortunately, Killany couldn’t get any of the semi trucks running. But that wasn’t a big problem. Not at the moment, anyway. He had one more stop to make before he could think about loading up and going home.

After the blizzard, Killany waited three more days for the winds to die down some. At least they were clearing some of the snow, pushing it up onto the existing drifts, but leaving open areas where Killany could travel without risking sinking into the deep snow.

Northward again, into the teeth of the wind once more, Killany took his time getting to Idaho. What was a few hours’ drive before the war and the eruptions took Killany three days of slow travel. But he made it, and like Orem and Hyrum Utah, Montpelier, Idaho was deserted, as far as he could tell.
