Possible Reasons for Doubt or Fear
Many people face fears regarding competitors when they externally roll out the Vivid Vision. Given the extremely personal nature of the Vivid Vision, there’s a tendency to worry that someone might steal your ideas. And while that feeling is certainly real, in actuality, no one else has the ability to execute your ideas.
Remember, you’re only showing them the final product; they have no idea how to get there. The Vivid Vision isn’t your business plan, just your destination. And once you announce where you’re going, you have staked out that territory. Should anyone else attempt to plant their flag there, it will only come off as derivative, as if that company doesn’t have enough vision to chart its own course.
The other reason people often get nervous about this unveiling process is because they don’t know a crucial element involved in it: the “how.”
There’s a certain vulnerability that comes with not having all the answers. It’s difficult to stand in front of a room filled with people and make a bold announcement. It’s even more difficult to do this without knowing the answer to the question, “How are you going to make that happen?”
Again, remember that the “how” is not your job. Omniscience is not a prerequisite for being the head of a company. You have people for that. If and when that question comes up during the external rollout, then answer it simply and confidently like this: “My team, in whom I have the utmost trust, will get it done, because that’s the task I have charged them with.”
