When Kasrik’s servant had returned to him his satisfaction was overwhelming. At last! Now he would soon have his full strength back, and with the aid of the Omych, he could return home and leave this wretched land of humans far behind. It irked him that he had been robbed of his chance to create a group of followers, but he hadn’t the resources here now. The loss of his pouch had been a serious blow. But he had the means to return home now, and he intended to use it. Given time, he could still build his army of followers and take back that which was his due. He could afford to be patient.

He sent his rodent servant out to watch the stairwell as he gleefully examined the gem. He once more pondered the irony of his kin’s choice. How considerate of them to leave the Amorin. Perhaps they felt it would somehow help protect their pitiful human friend? Foolishness! Humans knew nothing of magic.

The human really was something he should attend to. He had been an enormous amount of trouble. It would be most satisfying to remain long enough to teach him a painful, terminal lesson. The thought brought a wicked grin to his lips. Looking into the Amorin, however, brought his priorities back into focus. The human was ultimately of little significance, and now that he had the means, it was essential that he return home in order to become fully restored. With the abundant mystical energy of that distant isle he could recover much more quickly. Whatever satisfaction he might derive from killing the human would have to be forgone.

His malicious smile returned as he watched the facets of the Amorin glitter in the candlelight. Its warm familiarity was soothing. He’d always felt this particular stone was a flawless, perfect specimen, and to hold it once more gave him satisfaction beyond measure. Once he was back home, he would take great pleasure in recovering his pouch with the rest of his gems from the arrogant archer who’d stolen it. And teach him a lesson or two about the folly of stealing from a Sorcerer in the process.

He pulled the Omych from his pocket, placing the two gems side by side in front of him. Already he could feel strength flowing from the green stone, and he prepared for the incantation that would take him home.
