1. Dome Church
A Gothic structure topped by an onion-shaped baroque belfry, the Dome Church seems more like a charming village chapel than Estonia’s main Lutheran place of worship. Built by the Danes in 1219, it is believed to be the oldest surviving church in Estonia. It remained for centuries the most prestigious place in Tallinn to be buried, and the floor and walls of the nave are studded with grave plaques and funerary monuments. Prominent among these are the tombs of Pontus de la Gardie and Otto von Uexküll.
