Fearlessness

Fearlessness (perspective): is not easy to describe; it is something that needs to be experienced to be understood well. First, there is a decided decline of interest to study “fear” and “fears” (fear of x, y, z). The research on these is seen as more distracting of truth, than revealing. The emphasis of study (almost totally) becomes the “discourse” construction of culturally-inscripted (manufactured) ‘fear.’ An ethical imperative is characteristic of this fearlessness perspective (FMS-7), and that is the awareness that there is no “right fear” (valid as it is on the level of reality in the 1st-tier); rather, one sees through and dissolves “rationalist” disguises in the 2nd-tier of fearlessness and concludes what was justified as “right fear” is quite “wrong fear.” The end of the ‘fear’-game is nigh.

Welcome to FMS-7 (Yellow, Integral) and its somewhat ambiguous and provocative views on the discourses along the continuum of FMSs—and of FME itself. This is mostly rather radical stuff, which you won’t find in contemporary texts on fear management, nor talked about on popular tv talk shows. Be prepared for a smorgasboard of sampling, a kind of pastiche (or collage) of material for fearlessness. It is not all linear-logical and organized to satisfy a 1st-tier sensibility for order and clarity. To do fearlessness due justice as a form (FMS-7) would require a book-length articulation, with lots of art, illustrations, models, parables, and poetry.

Thus far some 15 meanings of fearlessness, including the quote above, have arisen in the text. I have not always pointed them out directly, preferring to let them be absorbed within the context of the writing. At times however, they have appeared in overt forms, including but not limited to:

(a) God is fearlessness,

(b) being truly human is fearlessness,

(c) fearlessness is the epistemic lens (FMS-7) through which this entire book is conceived and written,

(d) fearlessness is a Spiritual cura and therapia for the ailing problems of a Cultural world ruled by ‘fear,’ (Fear’s Empire, ‘Fear’ Matrix, etc.)

(e) fearlessness is the base of the 2nd-tier FMSs and thus the base of an ethical response to the world that is no longer ‘fear’-based,

(f) fearlessness is the path between the two arche-motions Love and fear,

(g) fearlessness is the way of the Great Reversal (or Korten’s “Great Turning”) required in development, transformation, and healing,
