What wine do I buy for my home?
When you taste a wine for the first time you know if you like it or not. It is a good practice to take a note or a picture of the wines that you like, in this way you can have a reference of these for the time of a future purchase.
I recommend that when you like a wine, buy a bottle, try it at home and if you still like it, you can venture to buy several bottles according to the quantities of wine you usually consume. My recommendation is based on the fact that wine does not always taste the same for different reasons, such as, pairing, atmosphere, company, etc.
Once you have tasted several wines, you can make a simple analysis of your preferences, color of the wine, type, name, cellar, area, grape, etc.
This will form a criterion of your preferences that will facilitate the choice of wines to buy.
In addition, these preferences will be linked to the occasions when you plan to consume the wine. So, you may like a cold Chardonnay or Chablis on a summer afternoon, or a red merlot to accompany a roasted meat, or a cava to celebrate an achievement.
These preferences will change over time. Regarding reds, in the beginning my favorite grape was Malbec, this made me taste many wines of this variety, some I liked, some I did not like, little by little I made my selection. Then for a while, I became an enthusiast of the Spanish Rioja, trying all their types: young, crianzas, reservas and gran reservas. Then I started to like Cabernet Sauvignons, which are barrel aged. These are my current favorites. However, I still frequently enjoy my favorite Malbec or some Rioja that I love.
