Rion

Rion watched Luna as she headed through the small, rounded door of the cottage. That pretty blond hair, her long, slender arms, the lowest part of her back where her shirt slid up when she reached for the handle, and that ass.

Fuck, that ass.

It wasn’t very large, but even through the loose trousers, he could make out its perfectly round shape. Her hips were narrow too, but that ass atop those long legs…

In hindsight, he shouldn’t have bitten her. Not the greatest way to make a first impression. It wasn’t as though he’d had much choice when she’d aimed that arrow between his eyes, but perhaps he should’ve pinned her to the ground.

That may have been a good way to make a first impression.

Although, not so much in wolf form.

Then again, had he not tasted her blood, he wouldn’t have known what he now did. How great of “friends” they would be one day.

First impressions are only that, he thought. It’s what comes next that matters.

Regardless, he was in no hurry, and he doubted hurrying would do him any favors. Luna seemed to hate him, and he’d need time to build her trust.

He’d give her all the time she needed. But he would end up where that vision had shown him he would.

Drawing in a deep breath, he rummaged in the pocket of his trousers for his flask. He popped off the cork, lifted it to his lips, and tilted his head back.

As he did, a massive creature flew overhead, and the liquor in his throat lodged, burning like fire.

He coughed to expel it, rubbing his chest and quickly looking back to the sky.

It was hard to make out much in the light of the moon, but those wings sparkled like rubies. Wings so big that, here, from where he sat, they appeared half the size of the castle. He was sure that couldn’t be so. Drakens were big—he knew they were big—but they couldn’t be that big.

After a few flaps through the wind, it flew over the glowing forest, and its colors became clear. Rubies were a correct assumption—the creature was blood red. An absolute wonder to marvel at.

This whole place was, really.

The smells were almost overwhelming. Those Fae within the castle smelled like a pastry shop. If he ever developed a good relationship with the queen—either of the queens, or any other Fae he was soon to meet—he hoped to get onto one of their good sides so they’d allow him a taste. Just a small sip to see if their flavor was as decadent as their scent. He wouldn’t hurt them, of course. They’d probably enjoy the feeding as much as he would. Everyone else he’d fed off of had.

Although, if he never got a bite, at least he’d get to taste the other wonders of this world. The forest was dozens of strides away, but all the food teeming within it made his mouth water. He considered standing to go take a few bites. He quickly decided against it.
