96. This estimate is based on Agabus’s prediction of a famine in Jerusalem (Acts 11:27–29), after the flooding of the Nile River in 45–46 CE. The flooding affected the “breadbasket” of the Roman Empire, which within a year would have caused a shortage in the areas on the edges of the empire. Paul and Barnabas would have taken their contribution to Jerusalem, which was affected in 47 CE. They would have left shortly after this for Cyprus in order to be in Corinth during Gallio’s leadership, which occurred from 50–52 CE.
