“The interface went as well as could be expected. Septimus is adjusting well and handling tasks that would have taken my team months.”

As David Mercer finished speaking Gwen marveled at how far they had come. “Excellent work, Dave.” But she couldn’t dwell; she had to move. She looked across the conference table. “Braeden, anything you need to report?”

“We need revenue, is that surprising?”

Gwen couldn’t help but smile. “No, it’s not. We’ve received some more leasing agreements for shops. Still no luck with one of the passenger liner corps?”

“No,” Braeden said emphatically. “They all say the sector is too unsafe right now.”

Gwen nodded. She’d have to reach out to a few personally, maybe call in a favor from all her days at PG. “Good work, Braeden. Keep it up. If we can get any liner or freight company as a permanent anchor…”

“I know, I have a few more options.”

“Good.” Gwen looked around at her team. “Is there anything else?”

Dr. Pierre spoke up. “What about our new visitor?”

Gwen knew everyone was curious about the ambassador. “We’ve extended him every courtesy due to a foreign dignitary. The GU is sending a representative to carry out formal talks. Until then he’s our guest and we treat him as such.”

There were nods around the room, but Gwen could also see the apprehension. The fear of AI was strong and with good reason. “Everything will work out. Thank you all, let’s get back to work.”
